I got a 92 Civic LX with 184,000 miles..I wanted to look at my rear brake pads & see what condition they're in...But I took off the rear wheels & there were no pads at all..there's not even a Caliper mount for the brakes. The front wheels has caliper mounts & pads..but not the rear.

In the Haynes manual it talks about my rear pads....But is it possible that the rear brake setup on a 92 Civic LX are different from other Civics rear brakes that are 5th generation?

 

92-95 CX, DX, and LX do not have rear disc brakes. You have drum brakes. They are brake shoes instead of pads and they are under the brake drum.

 

Ahhh...Gotcha!..Thank You! i have no idea why the Haynes would say something about "Rear Brake Pads"...but of course the book is also based on the Del Sol cars as well.

 

The EX and Si Civics have rear disc brakes...

And the manual is probably talking about the SI model OP, my manual for my 91 civic shows everything for all model 91 civics/crx's.

 

92-95 EXs did not have rear disc brakes. They had rear discs if the car was purchased with the optional ABS set-up. Finding a EG Civic EX with rear discs is kinda rare as not many people opted for the ABS.

 

Yea I thought so, but I didn't say ABS because I couldn't remember if they all had it or not.
