No spark need help

Default No spark need help

I bought a shell a 1997 civic ex.didnt know it had been in a fender bender.i bought a 1994 civix lx for the motor.duped again. i found out later that it didnt run before!i did the swap .it has a new distributor.plugs wires.distributor jumper.ecu jumper. still no spark and no fuel.can anyone help me.also wen i plug in the code reader it wont connect,dont know if thats helpful or not.im open to suggestions here

1. Check that the ECU ground wires on the thermostat are hooked up securely. Easy to forget them during a swap.
2. Check that the car has an ECU installed. Also look for missing relays, fuses, other vital parts.
3. Check that the distributor gets power on the black and yellow wire with the key on.
4. Check other power sources to the ECU. I don't have the diagram of the 97 handy but there are several fuses involved.

When you turn the key on but don't crank, the CEL should cycle on and off and the fuel pump should also start and stop to prime the lines. That will happen regardless of the mechanical condition of the engine.

Wat do I do if the cel doesn't cycle

CEL not cycling means the ECU is not powering up and running, so checks 1-4 above are some reasons for that. Also see if the other lights on the dash (oil, battery) come on with the key on. If those don't come on the circuits aren't getting power from the ignition switch and fuses.

Grounds are hooked up. I got. The other lights. Oil gas. No cel. Relays and fuses are good
