Default No start... ICM?

Alright, so I was working on the car earlier and bumped a spark plug wire loose and it fell off the distributor cap. I didn't notice, and proceeded to start the car. The car ran rough (since it was on 3 cylinders) for a few seconds and then died. I went and looked under the hood, saw the wire and put it back on. I waited a minute or so, then turned the key to let the fuel pump prime, and then tried to start it... didn't work. Tried a few more times and it's definitely not going to start. It cranks but doesn't turn over.

Anyway, I think but i'm not 100% sure, that the ignition coil module probably died on me.

I actually already bought the part (because the auto parts store closes at 9PM and I won't be home tomorrow and I figured that it won't be open July 4th), but I wanted to get opinions before I install it and void any possible return of the part in case it doesn't solve the problem.

So, do you guys agree that it's the ICM?

Your distributor has an ignition coil and an igniter unit/ignition control module (ICM). Running the engine without a plug wire connected would most likely blow the coil. You can test the resistance of the coil to verify:

Hmm, I thought it was the same thing. So much for trying to be smart. lol

Anyway, what I asked for at the counter was the ignition coil. I went outside and installed it and said screw the test and it worked. In fact, it starts stronger than ever.

Thanks for the diagram RonJ.

And chris, I saw your ninja post delete. lol
