not exactly sure if this applies but i may have a similar issue that has not progressed as far as yours. When my car is hot, as in ive been driving a little, and then turn off the engine and try to start it again within 30ish minutes, it will have a lot of trouble starting as in I must hit the gas or it will just die but after the initial stumble it runs perfect, and this does not happen from a cold start. Just starting to get warm out here and I havent noticed it changing anything but I will have to see what happens as the season progresses.

Anyway, I am pretty sure i have ruled my issue to the fuel system, not sure where there but i am 90% sure it is something there. Not sure if this helps at all but I hope it can be of some assistance.

PS: i think my fuel pump is just getting old, but not sure how heat would affect that. Gonna replace my fuel system some time at the end of this year or start of next, so maybe then I can let you know if that fixed it...

Mine will not crank at all when problem occurs. From what I read about your problem, the main relay seems to be a common problem. The solders crack (due to the circuit board expanding and contracting from temperature) and there is no signal to the fuel pump and other parts of that system. This can happen both when it is real cold or real hot. I would check your main relay for bad soldiers, i read it is really easy to fix them yourself or they are like $30. Here is a video from another post.

Bad main relay will crank but not start. Not cranking is always a different problem, the main relay doesn't have any relation to the starter.

Having to push the gas to keep idling could be a sticky IACV.

If power is lost to the whole car, check the battery connections and the battery itself, they can get loose connections internally. Check if power is coming from the battery by turning the headlights on and see if they stay on while trying to start.
