Default Not starting need help

Ok, for starters I've been away for 4 months. so my car has been sitting without anybody crank it up during the summer. Back in May I messed up my alternator by putting in some HID's. So I ended up replacing the alternator and battery. The car was working fine before I left. i get back and it just wont start up. I noticed the engine had no oil(bone dry almost), of course I put the necessary amount in. I had a uncle try to give me a boost, just in case the battery was dead. but that wasnt the problem because the lights and all electronics work(includig cd player and HID's). Any guesses at what the problem might be?

well id check to see where that oil has gone......... sounds very odd how ya aint got any oil from it just siting around...

and just because your lights work doesnt mean thiers enough power to start the car! pull the battery out and fully charge it and then try it again...

Are you getting any spark from the distributor?

I have not checked the distributor yet, but was planning on buying a new cap and rotor kit anyway. I think i'ma check to se if gas is going to the fuel rail first.

ok, i checked the distributor cap and there were no cracks, however the terminals on the inside had some white-looking stuff that seems like it could have come from erosion. and there was some evidence of oil on the outside edge of the cap. So do i need to replace the cap or the whole thing? if so. was considering getting the parts from MSD, is that a good choice?
