Default trying for 180whp N/A on a y8

ok i have a 97 civic ex with the D16y8 i have a AEM V2 cold air intake, cat back skunk 2 exahust, hiflow cat, and a of ebay headerbuti am about to rebuild my motor and put in a set of PM7 piston with a .062 head gasket, it would put my comp ratio at 11.7 to 1. i am goin to upgrade my fuel pump get a fuel press. reg. for it and get a chiped ecu for it. thinking about getin a new intake manifold for it.maybe a camwith all that do you think i would be close to 180 whp or would i need to do more to it.

I dont think you'll get it up to 180whp, not without a full valvetrain and a ton of tuning. 150whp on an N/A d-series is pretty average for a good build/tune

yea. i was think about going somethinglike a crower stage 2 cam with new spring and ever thing.andthe edelbrock intake manifold but know know much about them are they any good i was thinking about geting one but i havent heard much about them.

Check out riceburners thread on his D series engine build for performance. If you want to see how much work it would take to get good power, and if you want to go that route.

It's going to take a lot of work, and cost a lot of money to get good numbers of power coming out of a D series engine. You would probably be better off with another platform like a B18c or H22 engine to do some mods too.

It's about a pride thing to put that much money and work into getting that kind of power out of a D16Y8 with N/A. Because it's going to take a lot more work, and a lot more money to get there. If you really want to do it and got the knowledge, patience and money go for it.

But it's going to lead to a lot of aggrevation if you don't know what your doing.

yea i know it will be alot of work. i have rebuilt a few motor before. all i already have the pistons at home. and ever thing but the head gasket soo i am goin to rebuild it and if i am not happy with the power i got to a JDMH22 with tranny and LSD in itsiting at my house that i got for my old accorrd. but i wanna tryin to see mid to low 14 a all motor D. before i think about do a motor swap.

if you do a full build mid 14's will be had, I know of one company running a stripped eg hatch with bolt ons and a head package running 14.7's

do u know what head package they are runnin. b/c i am not sure what cam i am goin to put in it. i was thinking about the akmee type r but the said it would be a long time before they get that one back so i might go with thecrower stage 2

akmee is who I am talking about and in the vids on their site they are using the Type S cam package.

soo with the akmee head package, the 11.7 to 1 comp. new intake manifold with a 70mm tb.and the chipedecu how much horse power do you think i could get out of it. and would you change the rev limiter or leave it at 7000 rpms?
