OIL LEAK 2000 CIVIC EX SEDAN HELP!!
Hi all, I noticed that I had an oil leak on my 2000 Civic EX sedan automatic. I got under the car and noticed it was dripping at the drain plug. So I changed the oil and installed a new drain plug and washer. When I went to tighten the drain plug, it got tighter and tighter, and right when I was about to stop, it got completly loose again........ Is that normal? Sorry for the NEWB question. So I tightned it untill it was tight , right before it was supposed to get loose again.
Please help me .

it sounds like the drain plug threads are stripped, or worse yet the threads in the pan are stripped and you would need a new oil pan. the drain plug does not need to be tightened super tight, it has a washer/gasket for a reason, never ever use anything but hand tools when tightening the drain plug
if you get the pan off - i think there may be a screwed in plug that can be put into the hole and the middle of the plug will have threads for a bolt to allow for drainage.
maybe someone who knows more can reply.

try this i have done it many many times,,,,,,,a lot cheaper than replacing the pan .. you might have to get the correct adopter for your year and model
