Thumbs down please help..im on a budget and my civy is bucking and sputtering! undrivable

i have a 96 civic ..it was running fine..pretty good for its milage and age..all of the sudden it started to develop a little sputter and then in about two days later it started to barely start and sometimes not even start..and sometimes it would start and idle fine..when i try to accellerate it spuuters really bad and i have to feather the clutch and give it alot of gass so i dont stall..i have to push it to the floor to accellate and the engine seems to violently buck rythmiclly untill you ease up on the gass...the exaust is not smoky like oil..i would greatly appreciate the help...and another thing...it seemed to get undriveable after i ran real low on gass and filled up with super...but would a clogged filter develop such a rythmic bucking and sputtering??????????...please help..

Nope. We are just regular owners just like you. You know... not being paid to sit on forums and answer questions, and possibly ask our own. If someone knows about that you are talking about, then I am sure they would chime in, otherwise they could be consider lazy, but it shouldn't matter since forums are subjective to help which is provided. Meaning, if no one posts, you can't blame anyone since no one is obligated to reply.

Also, this forum is (unfortunately) slow-er than other Honda forums. You can always try honda-tech.com.

Any CELs? When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

I can imagine a long time since the filter was replaced..thanks for the reply...do you think a really clogged filter would do that?

Whenever a CEL is on, retrieve the code(s). There may be more than one problem now.
