Default Poping Clutch

Hey gang, my question is two fold.. asking here since my dealer cant answer.

My 08 civic's clutch makes a popping sound occasionally when I press in, then let go (two pops). I've found lots of postings on this and have come to accept it's a known problem. I know mine is popping due to the links on the clutch... about every 3-4 weeks i spray both links with some silicone spray and the problem goes away for 3-4 weeks.

1.) Is there a better spray i could be using to last longer? the silicone spray is very 'watery', is there a spray that would go on thick to last longer? I'm in Canada, if you can recommend something at Canadian Tire i'll swing by and try it. My Honda dealer said they use 'fluid film' but i haven't been able to find that.

2.) any know know why this happens? they told me it's normal, but for the first year i had the car it was fine.. so what changed that i now have to lube the links once a month?

A heavier grease might help. Silicone sprays seem to wear off.
