Default Is this problems bad mounts?

Hey folks,

Just picked up a used 99 DX coupe. I noticed if i am holding the stick shift and i accelrate, i feel like the tranny is moving back and forth in my hand. If you let go and just accelrate and then let off the gas, you can see the stick shift moving back and forth. Could this be tranny or engine mount problem? Is seems like something underneath has some play.Any suggestions on where to look? Let me know.

The shifter is going to move a bit when you go from being on the gas to off, or vise versa. A good way to reduce that is to pop in some Poly shifter bushings, that will stiffen things up a bit

Well, it feels like the whole engine and tranny are moving. I just had my 95 stolen with 230k and the shifter never felt like this. It moves about 1/2 inch to an inch as i accelerate and then slow down. I was curious as to is a particular mount on the engine controled that movement or not. Anybody else?

Torque stoppers. You will see them via a hole in the frontward side of the fenderwell. If the rubber is cracked, that is your problem. I have the AT and it goes KLUNK every time I change from P or N into R or D. Also goes KLUNK when I lift off the gas and it goes into gear 4. My torque stoppers (TS) are very worn down and are damaging the engine mounts. Also when the TS are damaged, the CV axles run at an angle all the time, making them wear faster so they break quicker. With MT this can cause excessively noisy bucking in gear 1. Not that bucking gear 1 is a n00b thing or anything...
