question about intake setup on 04 LX
Few things in one here. First, I think it was incredibly stupid of Honda to put the air filter after the intake tube and that HUGE silencer. Here is why.
Sorry I have no pictures at the moment, but if any of you have seen the 01+ coil on plug setup you will know what I mean.
I decided for grins to take off the cover of my air filter while I was putting a battery in the car. Low and behold the air box before the filter was completely full of SEEDS. Apparently my car sat at the dealer for a long time last year before I bought it, or some little SOB made it's way in there over winter.
So I vacuumed all those out and put in a new air cleaner, and for the heck of it I removed that enormous silencer and shook it and guess what it sounds like a moracca (sp. sorry) but of course the way it's baffled inside I can't get the seeds out.
Anyone else have a problem with this? I took a piece of window screen and a zip tie and covered the inlet tip in an effort to prevent anything else from crawling in there.
How much would this part cost from the dealer if anyone would know?
Is there a piece of tubing that I could get that goes from the stock air filter box over to the stock tip? That would just be a straight shot?
Any input let me know. Just aggrevating and I'm not sure if it's restricting anything or not having all those seeds in there.
Are the ram air intakes worth anything on these engines? I looked at the TB when I had the air cleaner out and it's tiny, I don't see how putting a huge air intake on would let that tiny TB suck in any more air.
Thanks for looking!!
