I have an 02 civic. Somone told me that civic timing belts are notorious for going out around 60,000 miles is this true?

 

not from what i know in my case and not from what i know around here (although i have not been here long). if someone told me they have 60 thousand on their timing belt - i would say to change it.

 

Some belts have lasted past 100k. But others have bit the dust at about 60, 70k.
Better safe than sorry.

 

How much would it cost....... because im starting to expierience weird torque problems. It seemd like the car used to be quicker and have alot more power in the pasing gears any recomendations?

 

i just bought one for 20.99 plus tax.

as far as more power - how many miles since last tune-up?

the N/A means that none is specified - should change out at 60,000

 

it all depends if you do a lot of city or hwy driving.. one thing to keep in mind is that anytime that you are at stop lites idling or behind traffic,, the mileage on the odometer do not add up but the t-belt is still spinnig
so my rule of thumb...........

if a lot of city driving replace t-belt 60-75k
if mostly hwy driving 75-90 k

 

if your car has got about 60k on it -i would start saving up for it
if you take it to a garage you'll be looking at about $ 2-300 to get it done
if you wait till it breaks you'll be looking at about 2k[:@]
