rattle and vibrating shifter

I've heard of short throws hitting the exhaust underneath the car, have you looked into that??

well i looked under the car and its not touching anything. so what should i be tightening? the linkage is loose but i asumed that it should be to shift and stuff

I jacked mine up today and nothing was near the exhaust/heat sheilds or any of that. The bushing on the shifter extition rod(? help me out mxs.) was pretty loose an that whole thing would jiggle around so I'm thinking it's prolly that.

Some rattle is gonna be normal, but if it's rattling your hand numb then that bad. Try a new bushing and get back to us. There only a couple of bucks. Splurge and get a poly one.

Shift extension rod, I think. (haynes manual is in the kitchen...)

Yeah, it still seemed loose up at the front, but moving it around made a totally different sound than the rattle while accelerating. It sounds like sharp metal on metal.
