Default Replacement Key

Hello,

I got a used 2012 honda civic a couple of years back. Unfortunately the dealer had only 1 key which I have been using till date. Now my wife and I plan to share this car and hence I m looking for getting an additional key. I saw in forums that a replacement/additional key costs $200+ from the dealer. Are there any other alternatives? I live in Los Angeles and I would like to get some advice on where I can get an additional key for cheap.

Thanks.

Check at a few different dealers. Also key and lock businesses. You might find there are some differences in what they charge for a key. I had prices for a key for my 05 and found quite a discrepancy in price from dealer to dealer.

I recently got a copy of the (transponder) ign key for my '02 Civic at Home Depot for about $40.00. :-)
