Reservoir tank

Reservoir bottle was clogged. Cleaned it. Had to replace the hose that goes from the radiator to the bottle. Didn't have a hose long enough so used part of a hose and part of pvc tube that I taped together. Is that ok?......also, does the cap on reservoir tank need to fit tight?
