reset for factory maint. indicator
Does anyone know how to reset the "maintenance required" factory service indicator on a 2004 civic ex? I browsed the index in my owners manual and didn't find anything.
I don't see any service in the recommendations thats due, so it must have been from changing my oil last month when I switched to mobil 1. The first three were free from the dealer so I took advantage, I'll be doing it myself from now on, but I need to know how to reset the damn light!

Thanks. I took it to autozone and had them hook it up. He said there was no warning message, so I should be ok. I figured the battery was the default, but he said there is sometimes a button or switch on some vehicles. Just thought I'd ask to save the hassle.
Thanks for responding.

IN mine its like this analog thing. I just stick the key in the slot molded into the gauge cluster and the little thing goes back to green.

But yes, the newer models have an electrical type of maintenance reminder, I think.
Thanks Remy! I went to the guage cluster and figured it out. Mines a little different.
FYI for anyone with an 04 EX:
1. Press and hold the "select/reset" **** located at the bottom right of the speedo.
2. Then turn the key to "accessory on" (the one where all the lights come on but the starter doesn't engage).
3. Keep holding in the **** until the light goes out. It takes 5-6 seconds.
4. Release the **** and turn the key to the off position.
...That should do it, it worked for me.

anything 02+ that has the electrical indicator :
Turn the car on, make sure the odometer reading is showing, this will not work if a Trip meter is showing.
Turn the car off.
With the car off, press and hold in the trip reset/odometer button for roughly 20 seconds, then turn the car on fully, while still holding that odometer button.
With the car on, hold the button until the light goes off. If your doing it right, it should flash once shortly after you have started the car. Don't despair, sometimes it takes a few tries, and more then 20 seconds on some vehicles.
Once it is off, it should stay there until it's getting close to time again. Then it will start flashing 4-8 times when you start your car, 2k later it will stay on again.
Should do the trick, I have fixed several lights around here since I learned the trick.
