rpm question:
I have a 01 civic ex 5 spd. and it drives fine but when I'm on the freeway and i hit about 80 mph my rpm's are at a constant 4X1000rpm. Is this normal? the faster i go the higher the rpm's go. I hit 100 mph at 5000 rpm. If anybody can shed some light on this subject i would appreciate it. Also, is there such thing as a valve adjuster and what does it do? My car makes a noise like the valves are running dry but I do have oil in it.
I think the EX is geared lower than other versions. The engine does not have hydraulic valve lifters, valves must be adjusted occasionally to compensate for wear. This is done by turning screws on the ends of the rocker arms after taking the valve cover off. Be sure to read the procedure and follow it exactly since adjusting too tight can cause damage.
