Default Shudder & loss of power issues

Thanks for having a quick read over this, any input is appreciated.
Alright, so my car has 2 issues, not sure if they're related or not. It's a 95 Civic DX.

First one:
I'll be driving along happily then out of nowhere, i'll lose all power. If i put my foot to the floor, it'll act as if it were in neutral but without any revs. Eventually if i keep it down on the floor long enough, it'll shift down to second and rev like hell.
HOWEVER, if i put the car into neutral switch it off and back on (while at speed), it'll reset and will work correctly again. It may repeat this pattern every 5 or 10 minutes. It varies.

Issue two:
This may be releated? The car has a shudder/hiccup. I can turn it on and it'll shudder randomly. It can be smooth to start out with but out of nowhere it'll shudder in a random pattern.
Imagine this being the engine idling smoothly with the shudder bumps:

---------^----^^----^---------^^-----^^^-------^--^^^--------

Revving the engine doesn't seem to help as it can happen at speed occasionally.
I've replaced the distributor, spark wires, spark plugs..... any other suggestions?

Also, I've noticed that the problems are worse in the heat than the cooler air. I live in Florida and the hiccup issue seemed to disappear over winter. As soon as summer came around, it went all seizurey again.

Again, thanks for reading and any input!

Two thoughts come to mind. First the MAIN RELAY. Second the fuel filter, & or fuel pump. But if the Main relay is bad that will effect the fuel pump & ECM. There are some good write ups on the main relay having cold solder joints.
Anyway just my two cents.

Thank you for the reply. Forgot to mention i changed the fuel filter already. Not sure about the relay, i'll check that.

If anyone else has any other thoughts, feel free to add, thanks.

Do a search on the MAIN RELAY. I just changed mine. I read where they should be replaced every 10 years or 100,000+ miles. Mine caused a starting issue, & a fuel pump issue. I changed the fuel pump & filter & everything was OK for a few days then the problems started again. Bottom line if I would of known of the MAIN RELAY I could of saved myself work & money.
