How many miles?Either way if its grainy thats not good. Good thing your rebuilding it. Pick up a magnetic oil drain plugalso, the best 15 bucks you could spend on your car!

it is metal shavings

that is why I have allways bought magnetic oil drain plugs for all my cars because it gives you advance warning plus it dont let the **** back into your system

I could be that you have some water or fuel in the oil causing the oil to look milky or grayish

well i was guessing it was metal just didnt know where it came from, as it turns out it was the connecting rod bearings turns someone had milled the crank and didnt tell me about it so it had the wrong sizr bearings. so now im putting in a new crank...... yay now im in this motor for more than it would have cost for a reman

ouch... i noticed something like that in mine when i changed my oil this time.... I have been doing a lot more idle time than usual, and went over on the oil change because living in an apartment I can't work on it there, and my work schedule really doesn't leave much time... man i hope mine isn't a rod bearing... it's my daily driver...

I was thinking about getting one of those "filter mags" it's a magnet that you put on your oil filter, basically would do the same thing as the magnetic plug, but you wouldn't see what was picked up that would be the down side to that...
