Spark from coil, none from cap
Hello all,
I am trying to help my friend with his 93 Civic. The car died on him the other night, and I have checked most of the items suggested on the forum. What is interesting, is that if I remove the dist cap and use a spark plug tester to ground the coil, I get a nice spark when cranking the engine. When the cap is replaced, I get no spark out of the cap. I checked to make sure the spring on the end of the coil is touching, as well as the rotor to button by using paint to matchmark. The coil is def putting out spark, and the resistance between the coil points is less than an ohm. I just cant figure out why its not making it through the cap. The cap and rotor are new, as well as the plugs.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.

i had a friend that had this problem on her camaro and it turned out to be a broken rotor button. i know it sounds wierd to break one, but still its worth it to check. on hers the whole assembly wasnt broken just the tab that crosses the points inside the cap.
+1 on having a short in the rotor. If there's a crack in the plastic the sparks will jump from the contact in the rotor to the shaft. Just because a part is new doesn't mean it is good.
