Default Spark Plugs

I just bought an 07 Civic with 94,000 miles. I pulled a plug and it looked like a 94000 mile plug, so I went to the store to buy some new ones. The guy at the counter insisted that NGK iridiums were the only plugs for that car and told me he had them in stock for $15 per piece. I told him hell no I am not paying $15 a piece for Plugs!! Before heading to the store I had gone on the Bosch site and got the model number that corresponded to my car for the platinum plus and plus 2. I asked for those and he fought me and finally relented, I took my $2.79 per piece plugs screwed them in, and the car runs great.

THE QUESTION: Has anyone on here tried both the iridiums and the basic platinum plugs? If so did you notice any significant difference in fuel economy or performance?

Use the stock conventional (i.e. base-metal; NOT platinum or iridium) NGKs. Platinum etc plugs can last longer but they don't increase performance any. Several people here have had trouble with gimmicky plugs that have more than one side electrode.

Thats what I suspected. I mean if I have stock coils, then how is a "hotter" plug going to make any difference.
So, MK378, is there any reason you think that the NGK's are better than bosch plugs or do you recommend them because that is what Honda uses?

I've seen several Bosch Platinums break-- the tiny platinum wire in the tip falls out. But I did use a set in my Civic for more than 50,000 miles without incident. Conventional plugs start to wear out after about 30,000 miles but since a DIYer doesn't need to pay for labor to replace them, its no big deal.
