Default Speedo Cluster light issue

Hey all, can't seem to catch a break with my Civic hehe

Now occasionally when I'm driving at night the lights so i can see the speedometer and all that in the cluster wont turn on at all, or they'll flicker and I'll have to hit the top of the dash a few times real good to get it to stay on and not flicker... Is this a short somewhere in the wiring that will require a replacement, or could it be just a fuse going bad, and if so, which fuse would it be?

Thanks!

Do the ones on the heater control panel do the same thing? If so it's likely the dimmer control.

No, they're all on the same fuse.

There must be a loose connection near or in the cluster then. You can take the "hood" trim off of the "back" of the cluster (the side facing the front of the car) and wiggle the plugs.

Look at it from outside through the windshield. There are two plastic covers that pry out. Underneath those are two screws.

oh ok cool thanks..

Now I have to figure out what's going on with my power steering at slow speeds... it doesn't seem to be working very well... normallly easy to make sharp turns(like into a parking space..) are not so easy all of the sudden.. Unless its just a cold hearted pain in the **** car thing...
