My Civic EK developed a problem a while ago. The speedo dropped out, the engine light came on and I think there is a strong smell of unburned fuel coming out of the exhaust. The speedo comes back occasionally but is mostly dead. The odo doesn't spin when the speedo is out. I am thinking that front O2 sensor is dead. Anyone have any other ideas? I havnt done a OBD2 error code check yet.

 

Sounds like a fuse 15 problem. You will get codes for both O2 sensors, VSS, and evap solenoid. None of which are actually bad, it's all because the wires on the back of the engine shorted out and cut power to those parts.

 

But my alternator isnt shutting down, and fuse 15 governs the alternator also. Fuse15 isnt blown. I dont want to fork out for a sensor if its just a fuse or something like that. I appreciate your input, have any other ideas?
