Default starter motor

So I have a 2005 civic and when I try to start the car you hear just the starter motor turning but not cranking the engine. Does any one have any idea? Does not seem like the whole starter is gone cause it still gets power and your hear it spin just no crank!

Turn the crankshaft slightly by hand (with a socket wrench on the pulley bolt) and try the starter again. If it works now, one of the gear teeth on the flywheel has probably broken off. If it still doesn't work, the clutch in the starter is probably stripped. Typically the starter is replaced as a unit when that happens.
