steering squeeks/rubs
i've noticed for quite some time that whenever i turn the steering wheel, there is a squeeking/rubbing kinda sound. it dosnt happen all the time but it is more often than i'd like. i do kno that my driver side CV Boot has broken loose so i figure dirt and junk have been gettin in the ball joint(?)...could this be wut is causing the noise? if so how much would u estimate it would cost to have it replaced? if thats not it what else could be causing it?
thanks!
thanks!
How would your CV boot cause problems with the ball joint? The CV boot keeps dirt out of the CV joint. I would recommend changing the boot b/c sooner or later the CV joint will go out then you have a more expensive problem on your hands. As far as the squeaking goes, i would inspect everything in the steering/suspension system and look for something out of place. Does the sound only happen when you turn?
This normally happens to me in the winter when it is very cold outside. I'm not sure where you are from but I bet it is not cold enough to cause your steering to squeek this early in the year.

had that noise before it was my lower ***** joints.

i took a drive not long ago and i really payed attention to it this time. seems to happen whenever i turn the steering wheel to the right at a tight angle(like if im going to park or make a tight right u turn) and at a very slow speed.
