Default Stereo Problem, Please help

My 2000 civic's car battery died lately, after replacing it with a new battery. The stereo si asking for a code which I don't have. I bought my civic used from a car dealer 2 yrs ago and they didn't provide me neither the code nor the serial number of the stereo. Is there any other way to retrive the code or the serial number? Thanks so much!

I had the same problem on my 96 hatch. I had a oil change done at the honda dealer and they fixed the problem for free.

The serial number is on the deck, you will have to take the unit out to get it.

I know that the dealer is gonna have the code, i think that you have to goto the dealer and show them proof of ownership along with the VIN. Then they can give you the code. It doesn' t make sense that they would give you the code if you had the serial number of the radio since if some1 stole the radio they would have the serial number pretty easy.

The Dealer can unlock it for you.. I had the code that the factory sets the radio at but I cant find what I did with it. If I find it I will reply back.. But it will be quicker probably to run by the dealer.....

when i called over the phone they wouldnt give me the code but then i had my girlfriend call about an hour later and they gave it to her. just have the serial number. i believe its on the bottom or the back of the unit. you should just be able to grab the center consol and pull hard and it should come out. mine didnt have any screws holding it in. good luck
