Default Tail lights permanently on/ powersteering bolt stripped/ egr valve location

hello, forum. i have a 99 honda civic si and need your help!

Problem #1
My back tail lights are stuck on.
The back light fuse is fine.
I was told the if the fuse is fine than the relay is too.
is this true? any suggestions on solving this?

problem #2

i had a mechanic do some major work about 7 months ago. (engine valve needed to be replaced and the head gasket re-decked). Recently, when i went to replace my power steering pump, i realized the pump itself isn't broken, but rather, the bolt that holds the wheel that turns belt is stripped! The problem started out as a small wobble and progressed. Now, other belts under it have a ever so slight wobble as well. The power steering pump would have had to been removed to do the engine work that i had done. Could my power steering wheel bolt have been stripped in any other way other than the mechanics negligence or does this kind of thing happen? I've had the car for six years without any power steering problems.

problem # 3

where in gods name is the egr valve? my haynes repair manual tells me how to replace it but doesn't list location.

Are your taillights or brake lights stuck on?

Are you saying that the large crankshaft pulley is wobbling? Post a picture or video.

The stock Civic Si engine does not have an EGR system.

Probably the brake lights are stuck on. If the tail lights were stuck on, the yellow lights on the front corners of the car would also be on. If brake lights are stuck on (and all the bulbs are good) the one in the center of the back window would be on too. Brake lights stuck on is usually because the little rubber pad on the brake pedal arm that presses the switch (while the brake pedal is up, brakes not applied) has broken and fallen out.

The nut on the P/S pump for the pulley (the small pulley at the top) is not normally loosened or removed to work on the engine. To remove the engine head, most mechanics would unmount the whole pump and set it aside with the pulley still attached. The big pulley at the bottom that is part of the engine is removed to change the timing belt-- and it can come loose if the bolt is not sufficiently tight.

I don't know about the Power steering but take MK's advice..but for the Brakes...Look on the driver's side floor to see if there's a small rubber piece that looks like the pointy end of a Crayon. If you don't see it..that means you vacuumed recently :P
To fix it look at your brake pedal...now follow the shift of the pedal up under you see a button that looks like a door bell button(might be white or maybe Black)..You will be in a very awkward position but you should see it. You press that button...your Brake lights will go out. Next...either get some super glue or some tape & 2 pennies....You should know where I'm getting at...Just use the pennies to fix it & have a good day.

The brake switch is probably broken.

Yeah that's the button but since the lights didn't go out when you pressed it..then like Ron said..it's most likely a bad brake switch.

Unplug the wires on the switch and see if that makes the lights go out. If so, replace switch.

Default Your help saved me alot of money. Thank you all very much.

the people letting me know whether or not the lights went out when i pressed the doorbell like button are inept jerks.

contrary to their opinion the lights went out.

Turns out the rubber at the end of the brake pedal shaft did fall off.

epoxyed a penny to it and , voila!. it works.

much thanks.
