Help! 01 Civic (vtech engine). Used cab cleaner and car reved up and down (pulsed) at around 2000 rpms. Was fine next day. Drove it far for the first time yesterday (25 miles) and ck engine light came on and with pedal to the floor the car went about 30 mph and no more than 2000 rpm. The engine shut off if my rpms dropped as the car limped off the highway (about 5 miles to boyfriend's work) Car shut off at every traffic light. Cat converter? Once I shut it off for about a half hour it was fine... until it warmed up again. Codes: p1457 and p1362. Someone help cuz I don't want to spend a fortune with a mechanic if its something not too complicated and I love my new civic!... My bf is good with engines and trans... but not sure exactly what the problem is.

 

Possible clog EGR and off timing (or possibly bad distributor), suggest clean EGR port and check timing then see if that'll help
