timing belt slipped?
hey guys, just wanna say thanx for your help in advance. so i have a 92 civic htchbck, d15b7 basically stock. so i was driving normally the other day and she stalled, wouldnt start. I went through the paces and checked everything, found it was way out of time. stripped er down and the gear on the crank had jumped a quarted turn. everything seemed to look good in there except for that. Pulled the head and it doesnt look the valves hit. theres no marking or anything on them. so my question is why and how did the belt slipp that far? and could there be no damage to the valves? gonna put it back together on the weekend, just wanna be sure about it before i do. i could put up some pics if they'll help. let me know guys. thanx
how many miles are on that particular timing belt? i suggets buying a new belt, then putting it all back together and starting her up. be sure to check that your tbelt tensioner is functioning properly as well.
well the belt wasnt old at all. it had no broken or missing lugs, wasnt cracked or anything, basically still brand new. The ppl i bought it from had the head machined smooth, new headgasket, and timing belt works. there was probly just over 1000km on there. kinda why im stumped, just doesnt make sense to me. it ran fine beforehand. but ya gonna get a new belt, idler and spring, and gasket and put er back together, ya, and see what happens.
so i put it all back together, and she fired right up basically. was idling good, started to idle down, i figure it warmed up, then took it for a drive. about a mile into it i was slowing down and downshifted from third to second. when i put the clutch in it died. just quit, no cel, no noises or anything. tried crankin it and it sounds like the belt slipped again. no compression. everything was tight and tourqed. any ideas why this is happening?
