timing issues
well the sohc zc is great.got a new fuel line today which hopefully will fix my bogging problem as well as my code 1 (which i read could be due to low fuel pressure)
I had 5 check engine lights friday and now Im down to 1 check engine light which is a code 9.
so if im not mistaken that either means
my distributor wiring is wrong (double checked, it looks good)
my distributor is bad
Or my timing is off.
Now..im pretty sure my timing is off. when i used my timing light I looked for the red mark and tried to line it up with the sight on the timing belt cover but even with my timing fully advanced the mark is still ahead of where it should be. by about 2 inches.
So im thinking that my cam gear is a tooth off? tomorrow im going to mess with that unless anyone has anyother ideas on what it could be?

I am pretty sure you are correct when you say that your cam and crank are out of synchrony by one tooth on the timing belt. If the timing belt is fine, however, you may need to replace the distributor assembly.
You should try to clear up all codes before adjusting the timing. Did you check it with the test jumper in place? Without the jumper the timing will normally advance quite far from the mark.

my starter won't work today.....can't do anything about the timing till i fix that.
I checked my timing today and am having the same issue (sights are to the left of red mark even with furthest adjustment possible). Hailchristian, please post back with the solution if you indeed find it. I hope that you do. Thanks,

I bought my Civic about a month and a half ago and noticed lack of power/bad gas mileage. I bought a timing light and quickly found out it was set on TDC, that's 16 degrees retarded from where it should be!!!
I adjusted it to the red hash mark (16* BTDC), all is good.... got power(as much as a Stock EX can have
) and much better MPG.
I did NOT have a CEL..... I guessing the timing belt needs to possibly be off a tooth to throw a CEL as that might be the issue in your case.

alright...well i was messing around with the timing and finally got it to right where it should be. its right on the red mark and she is running great. I still have that code 9. i reset the ecu and it came back. im not too worried about it but it probably means a new dizzy down the line.
does anyone know what the correct location for the Air adjustment screw (on the throttle body) is? i have it set at a turn and a half but just looking for the right answer

well i think it was just one tooth off. Its louder now, my CAI is really loud...idk whats up with that.

are you saying that you pulled the TB cover off and moved the belt over one tooth?
