Tranny leak from inner cv joint
I have a leak coming from the inner CV joint on the passenger's side of my 95 civic dx manual transmission. Put a new seal on the tranny and replaced the clip on the CV joint, but i still have a leak. CV Joint jiggles a little bit more on that side compared to the drivers side CV joint. Is it the CV joint is just worn or the tranny inner part where the CV joint goes is worn? I'm think of trying a washer type deal with the CV joint to make it tight. Any suggestions?
RonJ It's transmission fluid. About a quart every 400 miles.

Seals can get damaged in installation, be sure to push only on the outside edge and do it very uniformly. Apply transmission fluid to the new seal before putting the axle in so it doesn't run dry. Also the seals are different left to right, there is an arrow on the seal which must correspond to the direction of shaft rotation when the car is rolling forward (clockwise on the passenger's side). I suggest buy a new seal, pull the axle out of the transmission then make sure the sealing surface on the axle is smooth and the seal fits on it properly (a slight interference). If not-- you have the wrong axle for the car. Washers won't help.
well i did my washer deal and it fixed the leak. the seal was on their correct, but their was to much play with the axle. It tightened down and hasn't leaked since. Axle grease was involved with the washer to help with ware on the seal.
