transmission flush?
i have a 99 civic hx auto. it is at 115,xxx miles right now. i've drained and fill the honda trans fluid around 10,000-15,000 miles ago myself. I just took my car to a shop for an oil change today and they said i need to do a transmission flush. my question is do i need to do the transmission flush or were they just trying to make more money? also, heard many stories about after doing a transmission flush the transmission would fail. is this true or is this a rumor.
but here is another problem i have and i think it might have something to do with the transmission. whenever i am at a complete stop and then step on the gas in the beginning it makes a rumbling sound. it feels like it is stuck in a gear or something. i have an automatic transmission. would flushing the fluid help it. not sure if it is a transmission problem theough
no FLUSHING the tranny can kill your tranny!!!!!!!! dont do it! ask any transmition shop they tell you to just drain the fluid and refill it. NEVER FLUSH IT!!!!! the extra pressure in the lines can free up and junk in the tranny and all that dirt will clogg up the internal metal screens which will cause your tranny to fail ALOT FASTER!!!!!!
i've just broughtmy car into a honda dealership for a full transmission flush. the reason being is that when i change the trans fluid myself i use the honda auto trans fluid. but i notivce that there was also the CVT trans fluid (which they did not display on shelf along with other trans fluid). so i just bought some CVT fluid and had the dealership flush instead to draing out all the auto trans fluid and replace with the cvt trans fluid. did i make the right decision or what should i have done instead?
