trunk wont stay open

I have a 1991 Civic 1.4 gl 16v. My trunk lid wont stay open, any suggestions on possible faults and any DIY tips

Not really sure howthey work but there are 2 bars that run the width of the trunk hooked to the hinges and if one of those came off your trunk will close by itself. Take a look under the rear deck and see if anything looks out of palce.
