Default VSS?

Hey guys I had my 93 civic dx analyzed for all possible problems and the only code that came out was 17. Thus the VSS is bad.

The speedometer stopped working shortly after. I replaced the VSS and it worked for about 5 hours. Then it stopped working. I shut the car off and turned it back on and it worked again. Then while driving it stopped working altogether.

The next day it was dead for about 4 hours and then when I hit 70mph it started working. Now it randomly works and randomly doesnt work...

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Maybe you should try and back probe the connector for the VSS and see what the readings are. THat way you will know if the actual sensor is bad or if it is something else. I don't really know much about the VSS or how it works, but this is wat i would do for any sensor that i suspected of not working. You could also follow the connector to where ever it goes and check the voltage at the connection and see if it is the same.
