Default vtec or no?

Im thinkin of buying a 96 civic ex, I kno tht the ex models are vtec, but this car doesnt say on the engine that it is. Does it mean that the car has a vtec or no, the car does not run and i wouldnt be able to tell if vtec kicks in. Owner said no engine swaps were done and they said they bought it from a 70yr old guy.

Yeah but you could replace it with a vtec valve cover. I forget which engines they come on but you can find them at the junkyards or on ebay.

My ex coupe does not say Vtec, but it is black powder coated. If your going to spend the money, find one thats made by Mugen. I hear they dont make them anymore.
