A Way to Make Maako paint last longer

Maako is having a speacial for 200dallors to paint your whole car.. I hear their paint chips in about 6 months.. But if we were to pay extra fora premium 2nd layer clear coat would that make the paint last longer>?

do the prep work yourself. sanding and primering.
