Weights on the inside of the rim????

Kinda stupid but I noticed that the drivers side rim weight... (30 I belive, 5 little weights) was hanging off the rim. So i pulled it off... Anyone know what the purpose of this is and if I need it? Thank you

You're talking about the little lead weights that clip on to the edge? These are installed by tire shops to "balance the wheels". If they come off your tire will be out of balance, and it may be bad enough to shake at highway speeds.

Ditto, you don't just balance one side of a wheel, that wouldn't make sense. Take it back to the place that did your last balancing and tell them it came off and have them check the others as well.

The lead weights inside the rim are normal. its usually done here in our country. not unless you want weights being seen on the outside of your rims, just go ahead. but its really placed there for balancing purposes. computer balancing nowadays usually would indicate where the lead weights are placed, its up to the tire shop to do their job and what your preference would be, inside or outside, your call.

there also used if its too hard or there not enough of a lip to place them on the outside
