this is weird

this is weird
one morning last week I noticed a lot of steam coming out of my exhaust so I looked under and I saw I had a hole in my muffler.
went yesterday to have it replaced because I had a muffler that was fix for free because I had it replaced before.
they called and said looks like I need a new pipe between the catalytic converter and muffler and said they weren't sure if they could get the new muffler onto that pipe because it is so rusted.
I said fine will have to do it another day and that was that but they managed to get the new muffler onto the old pipe.
but now I noticed this morning (and it was around 20 degrees) that my temp gauge started to move when I was just blocks from my house. and by the time I was at the train station it was showing normal.
before I would have to let the car run a while at the train station for the temp gauge to get in the normal range.
could getting a new muffler cause the car to warm up quicker? I don't know - sounds weird to me but I read your excellent exhaust info page and to me maybe the whole was so big in the old muffler it was just letting the exhaust out too much.
thoughts - maybe I am just imagining this but has anybody else ran into this? sounds weird to me.

No, it shouldn't make it warm faster. It must be something else.
I can well believe you need a new centre pipe though.
Oh and btw, its wierd, not weird

not sure what else it could be because nothing has changed except the muffler but I guess I will watch it and see if it goes back to its old behavior of taking forever to warm up.
well its early and I am surprised I didn't have more errors on the post but thanks for the correction anyway.

Alecrust, I think spelling it "wierd" would even be weird in Britain.
