So, i am trying to figure out exactly what engine i bought. When i bought it, i was told it was a 99 JDM b16a2, but i just don't know anymore. The numbers on the block say "B16A 5511206", then on what i think is the ac bracket, it says p30. I'm jsut so confused. been doing some reserch and i can find that they made a jdm b16a2 in 99, i can only find up to 95. but, all the parts ive been buying for it are for a 99 USDM b16a2, and they fit fine cept for some sensors being different on the throttle body and intake manifold (that kind of raises one of my eybrows) please help. if you need more info just post, the engine is down in my garage and i can get anything you need off of it. mabye ill just buy a b16b and just say screw it. then there wont be any questions.

 

you probably bought a 95 or earlier motor, the actual block is the same just some of the connections wont be the same for the sensors because of the obd systems.

 

Nice, ill buy the b16a off you. If it says B16A on the block then its a b16A from a 92-95 civic. Or it may be from a 89-91 civic SIR. Okay, look on the valve cover, is the "DOHC" letters bigger or the "VTEC" bigger? Also, look on the back of the head and find the head casting numbers and write them here.

Im pretty sure all B16 parts will work on all B16 engines, thats why you have no problems.

 

1st - where did u buy from
2nd - B16a2 isnt jdm... jdm would be the B16A
3rd - if your engine says b16a then u have either a 92-95 obd1 b16a or 96-97 obd2 b16a
4th - the reason why the parts fit is becuz this engine is out of a 99 honda civic si...

i just bought a b16a for my hatch..and i ran into a lot of trouble, but finally got it running....so if u have any more question fill free to PM with questions

 

ok, the vtec on the valve cover is bigger. and the numbers on the head are "pr3-3"and "H m". and it says P30 on the camshaft seal. ok, so lets say i do have this 1994 b16a. is the fact that ive been buying everything for a OBD 2, 99 civic si going to cause me problems putting them on a 94 or whatever oOBD 1 engine?? oh, and i bought it off ebay from some shop in maine.

 

Yes it will cause you problems. You can get a P28 ECU and then you'll just have to make a way for all the sensors to work.

Well i think that i have officially decided to scrap the engine and just use it for parts. I'm either just going to buy a b16b of a b16 for the 99 civic si. this time i'm going to keep the damn thing obd2 so there are no questrions about it. now heres my delema, i already had a bunch of headwork done (valve guides, valves, springs, retainers, keepers, etc), my question is will the head for the sir2 motor that i bought fit directly on one of the engines i mentioned above, or will there be problems. second question, if the head won't fit, can i just transfer the internals of the head over to the new one. thanks a bunch for the help by the way
