Default Will '94 cruise control work in a '90?

Hey folks,

I'm brand new to this site, so it's great to find y'all.

I've got a '90 Si hatch and I want to install factory cruise control. I believe this was a dealer-installed option for the hatches back then, but I had no luck asking at the dealer parts counter about whether I could buy everything there or even verifying that is was available in the hatch.

I've started looking on eBay and there are very few '88-'91 cruise parts out there, at least on eBay.

There are a LOT of parts for the next series, '92-'95, so I'm wondering if these will work.

I believe the motor for these two series Si's were the same, the D16, so I would assume they would, but you know what you do when you assume . . .

Any help from y'all would be appreciated!

I've been researching trying to add Honda factory cruise to a 95 DX 2-dr. It ain't worth it. Unlike some other things, if your car didn't come with cruise, you'll have to replace enough existing components and add so many other things it will make your head spin. If you could ever actually figure out what all the he11 you need. I did find a nice alternative. United Speedometer Service (usimail@earthlink.net) sells the Rostra line of cruise control components. For my car here's the reply when I asked what all I would need....

"WE CARRY THE ROSTRA PRECISION CONTROLS CRUISE COMPONENTS, AND YOU WOULD NEED 3 PARTS FOR YOUR VEHICLE. BASIC CRUISE #250-1223 @ $266.69, CONTROL SWITCH #250-3421 @ 36.13 AND THROTTLE ADAPTER #250-4249 @ 23.38. IF YOU'RE IN CALIFORNIA, ADD TAX, AND SHIPPING ABOUT $10 ANYWHERE YOU ARE. GENERALLY, WE HAVE STOCK, BUT FIGURE 1-2 WEEKS DELIVERY. CALL 951/684-0292 OR TOLL FREE 800/877-4798 TO ORDER."

Keep in mind that these are new parts, so the prices really aren't too bad. They are not used items that "might" work. Other aftermarket cruise control units specifically state that they will not work on Hondas. Go figure.

I also did quite a bit of looking around and Rostra also offers a wireless control. Very cool. Read this article. A guy added cruise to a new Honda Insight. It's not a Civic, but it will give you a good perspective and some pictures.

I am saving up the $$$$ to add cruise.

Hope this helps.
