Default will a trans from 92 fit a 96?

I was told (by a guy selling a 92 trans) that a trans out of a 92 civic will fit a 96 civic. I called the dealer , and they said the part numbers are different. Does anyone know if it will work? Thanks

No it won't work. The 92-95 are different than the 96-00.

Is this an automatic or a manual trans? Manual trans you can use as long as they are both D-series engines. Automatics I am unsure of because of wiring... it should bolt on though.
