Default Exhaust question

When replacing my muffler (95 Civic EX), is it necessary to get the flange and replace the springs when attaching it to the pipe between the muffler and the cat. I want to just cut those off and run a straight pipe instead of having the flange. I cannot get a good seal because of the amount of rust on the existing exhaust tube.

Default RE: Exhaust question

it should seal up pretty good, i no mines rusted pretty good and it still makes a good seal once you put the bolts in tight, and you dont have to replace the springs, you could if you want..they get rusty after a wile..or you can put in a pipe, make just theres no laws about that in your area
