Default Fuel Sending Unit Question

Hello All:

I just picked up 2000 Civic LX. The fuel gauge fluctuates up and down somewhat. When the car is stopped it shows somewhat accurate reading. When i accelerete it goes up and down.

I did a test, i unplugged the Fuel Sending unit/METER UNIT, FUEL (I'm told it;s the same unit just different people call different names). The gauge went to empty. I found the unit Fuel Sending unit/METER UNIT, FUEL honda part number 37800-s02-c12 for around $72 shipped. Hoping this will work.

Any ideas, suggestions? Maybe i missed something.

Many thanks

That is normal. As you accelerate/decelerate the fuel sloshes around in the tank making the gauge go up and down slightly.
Unless the gauge is moving large amounts I wouldn't bother replacing anything. Chances are if you spend $72 and put the new part in there won't be any difference.
Just use the 72 dollars for gas money and don't worry about it. My 1998 LX does the same thing.

Josh,
