Hi From NOVA
Hey guys,
New here, and I used to have a 1990 Civic DX until it got totalled at about 155k miles two years ago. I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser and love it but it does like gas. And to be honest I miss the simplicity of my civic. So I have decided to again repurchase one. I am looking for it on the cheap side and it will mainly be a commuter to work and back. Still looking for the same body style. I had a couple questions though. Obviously the older the car the more that could be wrong. I am not a mechanic but can do most things myself. Can anyone point me to listing or something of what I should do/change when i get the car to make sure its in proper running order. Also there is one in particular that I am looking at right now and the fellow says that it eats a bit of oil but not much. I understand that seals go bad etc etc but anything I should really check for that could be costly if it ever failed due to this problem. Thanks for the input and hopefully I can take this one home and ultimately put some money back in my pocket from gas savings.

Hi and welcome to HCF! Glad to see you missed your Honda and are planning to get a new one. Here is a list of all simple tune ups that should be done on the car to make sure it is going to run 100% for you: http://www.buyingadvice.com/auto-own...s/car-tune-up/

Ah thanks for the link. I am hoping this guy gets back to me today. He is asking $200 because it has a bad exhaust and he got quoted $350 for the exhaust work which is a load of crap. I am just going to buy my own pipe and weld it up myself.
