Default new guy here

hey guys/girls,

I just bought my first civic about a month ago. 98 LX with 68,000 and counting. I'm not master mechanic or anything but I'd like to change somethings about it. The worst part is it's an auto but that'll change in the spring. I also was looking at some swaps and I'm thinking about going for the "mini-me" swap. As far as appearance goes, I'm not looking for anything too drastic, new grill, lip kit, rims and a nice little drop. maybe a few little things. First thing i'd like to do is fix the cracked bumper cover. I'll try and get some pics up later.

Hey welcome to HCF and a lot of us including myself aren't great mechanics, but you will learn the simple steps to work on your Civic.

You could always do the y8 head mini-me swap which wouldn't give you much WHP at around 127, but at least you would have vtec, if you want real power swapping in a B16 or B18 is the best choice.

thanks for the welcome. Yeah I figured as much. You gotta learn somewhere right? Originally i was gonna do the mini me swap because I figured it would be a lot easier but if I'm going to swap the tranny at the same time i might as well drop a whole new engine in right?

Yes if your going to do that you might as well drop a new engine in it and get the power you want from it, and while your at it replace your flywheel and clutch for improved shifting.

Sure is a fun feeling, then you get Hondata and program your vtec to kick in at 4.5 RPM's and it's very fun!
