Default The new kid from Detroit

Hey y'all. Just bought my first civic and its a 1990 2 door hatch DX.

The story of how i got it is pretty interesting... not really but i didn't set out looking for a civic. I'm a huge VW fan and had a 1997 VW Golf 4 door. Bought it from a dealership for $1600 out the door. Some things went wrong and it was starting to miss when i was goin up hills and just randomly stalling and i found out it was the Distributor and a new one was $179 bucks and i couldn't afford it. I found a kid who wanted to buy it as is for $1300 bucks so i jumped on it. I was supposed to go pick up a 95 GTi for $900 but the guy was pushing me around so i started looking on craigslist and found a 1990 civic 2 door posted for $1200 bucks. I text the guy and asked him what the lowest he'd take was and he said $800. I set up to go look at it and checked it out. One of the motor mounts wasn't even connected, the speedo didn't work, the passenger side strut was obliterated and the wiper switch was hanging. i took it for a test drive and offered the guy $550 and he chuckled and said how bout $600... Well i didn't really say anything for like three or four blocks and he broke down and said he would take the $550. Took it home that day, ordered a new motormount, fixed the speedo, and now it runs great. i couldn't be happier to join the Civic community.

Here's a pic. Kinda crappy flat black job but that'll be fixed very soon.

Hey Welcome to HCF and mad props for being a VW lover as well. Ive grown up with them my dad had a 74 Bettle, now a 74 Camper and a Manx Buggy we restored together so I know the scene well.

I hope you really learn a lot from the Civic community and fall in love with them like you did VDubs!

Any Plans!?

yea i'm most likely gonna paint it white with flat black trim or just put a better flat black paint job on it. try and get some gold or black 16's, lower it a bit and get a new front clip.
My buddy had a 93 with the 1.5 that he boosted. He said he's gonna be giving me a port and polished head, intake, and a few other little odds and ends cause he's running a B16 pushing 32lbs of boost in his civic now... rediculous i know.
I'm not trying to do anything super extreme to it cause it is my daily driver and i am a family man with a 3 year old daughter so until i get enough money to get another car, this is my main means of transportation

Ya i feel ya on the daily driver man I wouldn't run 32 lbs. of boost on a DD that's for sure. Get a nice black paint job and a set of gold wheels would be sex for sure. Then simple bolts ons for the engine, and slam it!

Welcome to the site, great deal on a nice car, I love EF's. I definitely think a white paint job, with flat black trim and gold wheels would look sick. I really like white cars (my fav color on a Civic,) and gold wheels too. Check out the wheels I have, I think they'd look great on your car either way, whether you decide to paint it white or leave it black. Especially once it's lowered. The wheels are called Drag DR20's, if you don't like them Drag makes a bunch of other nice looking wheels (and some ugly ones too.) Rota's another nice brand.

i'll most likely either get some rota's or some Drags. those are the two brands i've been going back to everytime i look at wheels. but i'm a budget builder so pretty much whatever is on craigslist and can be painted, i'll be all over it.

i love the exhaust it's just michigan roads arnt exactly the best and that would just get ripped off within the first day. i got under the car the other day and found out that it has brand new exhaust from the cat back so i'm gonna leave the cat and the resonator on and it should sound nice with the muffler i plan to get. I know its retarded but just to see what it's gonna look like, i'm gonna cut 1 coil out of each spring then order some new coilovers when i get my exhaust cause my struts are shot anyway.
