Hey i just bought an 89 civic hatch and i just had some newbie questions. First i was wondering what kind of motor (ex. b18, or whatever) is in it just from what i could see it said 16 valve. I know its not vtec but is it sohc or dohc??And about how much hp is it runnin stock?? Secondly is there a motor swapthat can get me a dohc vtec motor in it? I did a 2.2 to a 2.4 twin cam swap on my sunfire but i bought this car cuz i really wanted to get into a vtec car so hopefully u guys can help me.
Well i bought the car with an exhaust on it, intake, rims, and lowering springs but other than that the motor looks stock.

It's gonna be a D16, but the Hp is gonna depend on which D it is. Find the engine code on the block and look at the link Nate put up.

You can get a B swap in there with no cutting or welding, but the 2.2 is gonna take some serious modification.
