Default NEW_ENGINE PROBLEM

Hi everyone,

I am new here and will start out with a question concerning my 2001 Civic LX.

I was on the interstate doing ~80 MPH when all of a sudden my car slowed as if I had hit the breaks. I pulled over and the stopped, the engine sputtered slightly, although was still running. I tried to give er a little gas and it seamed bogged down, never allowing me to get more than 3000 rpm or out of 1st gear.

What could have happened?

Does Honda equip their cars with a safety feature to keep the engine from damage for certain criterias?

One guy told me that the timing belt may have partially broken and the engine was governed by a engine protection feature. This does not sound correct to me... How would the computer sense a partially broken timing belt?

Any thoughts would be appriciated.

Thanks,
Nick

There's an easy was to rule in/out a timing belt break, look at it.
