Hello all,
I ran across your forum doing some research on Civic motors, and thought I register to do some reading. I was given a Civic hatchback about three weeks ago, from my mother-in-law, and wanted to see if I could have some fun with it. So far this is what I know about the car,

it's a 1990 Honda Civic hatchback (plain)
"D15B1" motor, manual 4-speed
produced at the Alliston, Canada plant

I haven't done to much with it yet except some basic tune-up things to put it back into good running order.

I've adjusted the valves
New plugs, cap & button
Changed all fluids
Adjusted timing
Removed all air-conditioning components (it was shot, didn't want to pay to get it working)
Replaced O2 sensor
Put in some coil-spring spacers (Temp-fix as Suspension needs attention, was bottoming out bad)

The car is running, but seems to be burning rich, and has an erratic idle. I have installed an air/fuel mixture gauge and tach to assist me in trouble-shooting the car. With the car having 202,237 miles on it, i'm guessing that the EGR system has gone south, and that I also have some sensors that will need replacing. Currently, I know that I want to do the standard type mods to it, like window tint, rims & tires, and a nice stereo. As for the more serious mods, I would like to upgrade the suspension to something that I can still drive on the street but want to be able to play on a road course with it as well. As for the power-train, I'm not really sure what I have currently got so I'm just doing some reading and taking that piece slow for the time being.

Don't have any pics yet, but will post some up down the road, as she really isn't much to look at now. [&o]

if you advanced the timing that could be the reason why you are burning rich.
