Hello everybody, I am very new to this forum and need a help on my civic lx 98, the speedometer of the car has got some problem and don't know what may be wrong with it!! most of the time it works O.K. but in about 30% of my driving time, it just sticks to zero and no movement!! this may commence after coming to a complete halt wherever possible, traffic lights, stop signs, ... odometer works good every time but the speedometer is becoming a headache. I need to know what's my speed while driving.. please help me on this, any clues, ideas, ..

Replace the speedometer.

The odometer functioning indicates that the VSS is fine and so is all of your wiring.

 

Or if fixing that is a problem go to a junkyard and find yourself a 96-00 entire cluster and replace it. I've done that to my car to get the RPM meters and it's a simple plug-n-play.

 

Any CEL codes?
